Be that person

Tuxedo is his name and he is my baby and my pride and joy. He is one of the sweetest dogs I've met, I mean just look at those eyes. So sweet.

I once heard the quote, "Be the person your dog thinks you are." This quote has left quite the impression on me. Our dogs see us as some of the most amazing people in the universe. They greet us everytime we walk through the front door with wagging tails and bright eyes without fail no matter what has happened. Yes it is wonderful and amazing how sweet and forgiving dogs can be, but not everyone is that forgiving. We need to remember that our actions have lasting effects on people, so be the kind of person your dog thinks you are. Be loving. Be kind. Be forgiving.

Something Different

Here are a couple of pictures from my very first studio portrait shoot featuring one my beautiful and talented friends, Sophie. She is a dear friend of mine whom I've built a much stronger relationship with over this past year. I adore her and am blessed for our friendship. As I feature her on this post, I'd like to share a little bit about her amazing talents and personality.

Sophie is an incredible singer and musician. Over the past few months I've had the opportunity to hear her play the guitar and the piano while sharing her phenomenal voice. She is straight up amazing.

She also has a beautiful personality to go along with her contagious smile and laugh. Sophie is caring and is always concerned for her friends and acquaintances around her, and wants to make sure that everyone is having a enjoyable time. I appreciate this outstanding girl in every way and am so grateful for her time in helping me complete this shoot.

It's spring time!

Spring is officially here and so are the beautiful colors of life that come with it! Spring is a time of rebirth and growth and these flowers most definitely illustrate the vibrance of that growth, life and happiness. Although they die eventually, we need to remember that they will grow again the next year if replanted. This truth applies to life as well; sometimes we may feel discouraged and down, but remember that there is always tomorrow to try again! Don't let one bad day get you going in the wrong direction. We have forgiveness and second chances and if we use those tools given to us to redirect ourselves, then we too can experience growth in our lives and true happiness.

Just some fun pics I thought I'd share that I shot over the weekend :)

It'll be okay

Sometimes in life we have to experience difficult trials, and that's okay. No one said that this life was going to be easy, but it is definitely worth every second of it. Next time you are feeling down remember to look at your situation with a "glass half full" attitude instead of a "half empty" one. Someone once told me that "There is no such thing as a bad day. Sure you may feel like trash sometimes, but you've just had a few bad moments, that's it. Remember that you have the power to change your day." It's the little things in life that make it enjoyable. Take every opprotunity you get to notice all the good in life, take the time to smile at someone you pass by in the store, take the time to be the change in the world.

He is the light

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

John 8:12

remember

"I dream of you in colors that don't exist."

The thing I love most about pictures are the memories that come rushing back to my mind when they are placed in front of me. All through one picture, memories of hours spent with near and dear ones are brought back to recollection and that is one of favorite thing about photography. You are not only capturing a photo, but a moment in time. The saying, "a picture is worth a thousand words" is so true and I believe that that is something special about photography that nothing else can create. A picture can bring laughter, stories, tears, smiles, to those who just look

and remember.

Life is great.

Taking pictures has become something that I enjoy and has become a part of me. When I walk down the street I can't help but imagine all of the amazing possibilities I could capture with one camera. It's truly unbelievable what a camera can do; it boggles my mind everytime I think that some inanimate object can capture what I am seeing with my eyes. It is simply outstanding. That being said, I would like to share with you the a quick glimpse at the stunning beauty of nature. Enjoy :)

Stand Tall

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."

-Albert Einstein-

Do not let others knock you down and tell you something that you are not. Everybody has a unique purpose that should not be judged by anyone else. Remember you are special.

Make something wonderful!

This past weekend I dislocated my elbow, and as I was looking through some of the photos I have taken these past few months, I saw this one and thought "What a perfect picture to brighten my day!" The popular saying, "if life gives you lemons, make lemonade" has been racing through my mind and keeping me in positive spirits since I have been stuck in a low these past few days. So I hope to any of you who are struggling in a low right now, that you can remember to keep your head up and smile; make something wonderful with whatever life is throwing atcha! :)

Inspiration

Be happy.
Be bright.
Be you.

The photos above were shot in Cancun. These pictures have such an inspiring feel to them, I decided to simply leave y'all with one of my favorite quotes.

CANCUN

This past week I had the opportunity to travel to the outstanding beaches of Cancún (jaw dropping sites let me tell you). The things I was able to see this past week were incredible so I thought I should share a few photos from my trip.

This earth is truly beautiful and sometimes it just takes an eye opening view like the one above to recognize the true beauty of God's creations.

Downtown

Not only do I enjoy the natural beauty of the skies in Texas, but I also love the stunning skylines it has to offer. There is something about a busy city at night with it's lights and the people that I just can't get enough of! So here is a little taste of the beauty of Dallas!

It's a lifestyle

Being a Mormon is my identity and I love every second of it. I believe that one of the most beautiful buildings on this earth is the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah and I had the wonderful opportunity to visit it this winter. I hope you all will find as much beauty and peace in this picture as I do.

"You and I in a moment of weakness may cry out 'No one understands. No one knows.' No human being perhaps knows. But the Son of God perfectly knows and understands, for He felt and bore the burdens before we ever did." ~ David A. Bednar

Doing a bit of reflecting

Recently I have been thinking a lot about past high school memories, as I am going to graduate in 3 1/2 months. It has been a wild ride no doubt, filled with up and downs, laughter and tears. I have experienced so much these past four years and I cannot wait to see what the rest of life has to offer. Although I am excited to go to college and experience the next step in life, I am going to miss what I have built here and I hope to never forget the beautiful friendships and memories I have made.

Being a senior has been a blast: football games, dances, dates, movie nights, hikes, lunch dates with friends, and just those late night conversations with a best friend. I am enjoying every second of it, and I am blessed to have a wonderful family, friends, and high school. So in loving memory of my high school experience so far I share this picture. :)

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
Any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And
you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll
decide where to go.
You’ll get mixed up,
of course, as you already know.
You’ll get mixed up with
many strange birds as you go.
So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great
tact and remember that
Life’s A Great Balancing Act.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!

I'm a Texas girl

As I have lived in Texas my entire life, I have whole heartedly become a Texas girl. What's not to love about it? In my eyes this place is absolutely perfect. Although there are a number of things to absolutely love about it, one of my favorite things about Texas is it's beautiful, breath taking sunrises and sunsets. They never fail to impress. Their beautiful and rich colors sweep across the wide open sky leaving anyone and everyone with a jaw dropped to the floor. enjoy :)

ATPI FIRST PLACE!

Back in the fall of 2014 I entered the ATPI photography competition. I entered this photo into the "Smart Phone" category (which means taken with a cell phone ;) and to my great surprise I won first place! What?! I 100% was not expecting this one. A week after the deadline for the competition, one of my good friends sent me a text... "Wow congrats on first place!!!" I was so confused as to what he was talking about; to be honest I hadn't even rememebered entering the photo competition, because I thought I had no chance. But after exchanging a few texts, I understood what he was talking about, and to say the least I was extactic!!

So to start off my photography blog I just wanted to share the picture that won 1st place in it's category in the ATPI competition :) Hope y'all enjoy.
